Ed Blake


Transitional Lead Pastor

Ed Blake is the Tranisitional Lead Pastor at ECC.  He is an ordained pastor who has been in ministry for over 30 years.  A verse that he has found so helpful over the years is Philippians 1:21 – “For me to live is Christ, to die is gain.”

Ed was raised in Tracy, and lived for 25 years in Danville. He is currently a high school basketball coach who has completed 30 seasons.  Ed is also an accomplished counselor and a church consultant. He enjoys sports, biking, studying history and Frasier re-runs.  He and his wife Randi live in Mountain House, a part of Tracy.  They have a dog named Murphy!!

Marion Van Vliet


Administrative Pastor

Marion has lived in the Escalon area for over 60 years. He was a dairy farmer until 2002 and has had a desire to be involved in ministry most of his life. Marion is married to Avis and has two adult children. He came on staff at ECC in April of 2002 as the Administrator and in 2005 received his Ministry License from the Evangelical Covenant Church and became the Administrative Pastor. Marion oversees finances, facilities, coordinates small groups and the mission trip to Alaska Christian College. He is passionate about discipleship ministries. His favorite verse is 1 John 5:3-5.  Loving God means keeping his commandments, and his commandments are not burdensome. "For every child of God defeats this evil world, and we achieve this victory through our faith. And who can win this battle against the world? Only those who believe that Jesus is the Son of God."

He loves being in the mountains. But when it comes to a favorite spot to vacation, it has to be the island of Kauai in Hawaii. Marion enjoys spending time on long drives with Avis, spending time with family, reading, and working in the yard.

David Anthony


Worship Director

David Anthony has been with Escalon Covenant Church since November 2015 as the Worship Director. He lives in the Modesto area with his wife Kristi and family. He graduated from Sunnyvale High School. He and his wife own The Heavenly Spa in Modesto.

His favorite verse is Proverbs 3:5, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding." His favorite quote is, "It is never wrong to do the right thing." David's hobbies are playing in a country band, basketball, pretty much any sport, singing, hiking, and being ambitiously lazy. His favorite vacation spot is Shasta Lake on a houseboat, and his favorite restaurant is Kobe's Sushi Buffet.

Justin Linscheid


Youth Ministry Director

Justin was born and raised in Stockton, California. He attended Azusa Pacific University and graduated with his B.A. in Biblical Studies, and then went on to Biola University's Talbot School of Theology and received his M. Div. in Pastoral Ministry. Justin began working at ECC as the Youth Ministry Director in September of 2017. His favorite verse is Proverbs 3:5-6, "5Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; 6 in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your paths straight."

He met his wife Alyssa in Sacramento while swing dancing, although neither of them actually swing dance. Justin enjoys sports, spending time with his wife, playing music, watching movies and eating at new places. His favorite spot to vacation is his family cabin at Mission Springs. His favorite foods are burritos, hamburgers, pizza, and his mom's French toast.

Stephanie Bruns


Office Manager

Stephanie has been on staff as Office Manager since September 2016. She grew up in Modesto and settled in Escalon following her marriage. She lives with her husband, two daughters, and one very quiet dog.

She graduated with honors from California State University, Sacramento. She has a Bachelor of Science in Business (Strategic Management) and a minor in Art.

Stephanie enjoys crafting with her young daughters, reading, and catching up on movies. Her favorite vacation spots are Disneyland, Legoland, and anywhere along the coast. Her favorite restaurant is any place that has fresh crab cakes, warm sourdough, and a beautiful view.

One of her favorite verses is Hebrews 13:2, "Be not forgetful to entertain strangers; for thereby some have entertained angels unawares."  A quote she tries to always keep in mind is: "Our life is a gift from God. What we do with that life is our gift to Him."


Beth Millard


Administrative Assistant

Beth joined the staff at ECC as Administrative Assistant in September 2016. She graduated from Grace M. Davis High School in Modesto and took classes at Modesto Junior College.

She loves any activity that lets her creative mind play. Her hobbies include reading, crafting, photography, and refurbishing old furniture.

Beth's favorite vacation spot is St. Thomas. She has only been there once, but if she goes again, she may never come back! Her favorite restaurants are The House of Prime Rib in San Francisco and sushi at Raw in Modesto. (She is always in the mood for sushi...)

Her favorite bible verse is Psalms 112:7, "They do not fear bad news; they confidently trust the Lord to care for them."  Beth's favorite quote is from Lysa Terkeurst, "I give grace because I so desperately need it".


Lynette DeSa



Maintaining the overall appearance and cleanliness of our facilities, Lynette quietly serves during the times when the building sits empty and it's just she and the Lord.  A "local girl", Lynette graduated from Escalon High and attend Delta Junior College.  When she isn't keeping everything spotless in the facility, she enjoys the great outdoors: camping, hiking, and yard work with her family.  It is also from family she gets her favorite quote.  From her dad: "I'll be on you like a duck on a june bug" (used when someone does something he doesn't like).

Lynette's favorite verse is Joshua 1:9 "Have I not commanded you?  Be strong and courageous.  Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." Her favorite restaurant is "pretty much...any restaurant that has fried food and Ranch dressing."
