Joel Joel Dorman, Lead Pastor   joel@escaloncovenant.org

Starting with us in July 2011, Joel serves as Lead Pastor.  In this role, he is responsible for the teaching ministry, vision casting, and leadership development.  He lives in Riverbank with his wife, Patty, and their daughter and son (and two dogs and a bird).

Receiving his Bachelor of Music Education degree at the University of Southern Mississippi, Joel will be completing his Master of Divinity degree (from Liberty Baptist Theological Seminary) in May of 2012.  His personal mission statement is "through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit, equip the saints for ministry to the world and each other by intentional and strategic discipleship motivated by love for Christ and His will."

His favorite restaurant?  "Hands down, P.F. Changs!"  While not eating at P.F. Changs or spending time with his family, Joel enjoys home theater, reading, and yard work.  He has a soft spot for the LSU Tigers and New Orleans Saints.

Marion Marion Van Vliet, Administrative Pastor   marion@escaloncovenant.org

Marion has lived in the Escalon area for over 50 years. He was in a dairy farmer until 2002 and has had a desire to be involved in ministry most of his life. Marion is married to Avis and has two adult children.

He came on staff at ECC in April of 2002 as the Administrator and in 2005 received his Ministry License from the Evangelical Covenant Church and became the Administrative Pastor. He is currently taking online seminary class through North Park Seminary.

Marion oversees finances, facilities, and Covenant Care for Kids, coordinates small groups and the mission trip to Alaska Christian College, and is passionate about discipleship ministries.  Additionly, Marion serves to keep Joel out of trouble.

His favorite verse is Micah 6:8 because it summarizes without question how life is to be lived not as an option but a requirement.

He loves being in the mountains but when it comes to a favorite spot to vacation it has to be the island of Kauai in Hawaii.

Marion enjoys spending time with Avis at their cabin in Arnold, snow skiing, hiking, and working in the yard.

Lynette Lynette DeSa, Custodian

Maintaining the overall appearance and cleanliness of our facilities, Lynette quietly serves during the times when the building sits empty and it's just she and the Lord.  A "local girl", Lynette graduated from Escalon High and attend Delta Junior College.  When she isn't keeping everything spotless in the facility, she enjoys the great outdoors: camping, hiking, and yard work with her family.  It is also from family she gets her favorite quote.  From her dad: "I'll be on you like a duck on a june bug" (used when someone does something he doesn't like).

Lynette's favorite verse is Joshua 1:9 "Have I not commanded you?  Be strong and courageous.  Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."

Her favorite restaurant is "pretty much...any restaurant that has fried food and Ranch dressing."

Cheryl Cheryl Hall, Secretary     cheryl@escaloncovenant.org

Cheryl has been on staff since 2010 providing excellent administrative support to the office team. Cheryl lives in Escalon is married to Dave and has two sons, both married, and five gradnchildren. At one time, Cheryl and a business partner owned and operated a childcare facility caring for 100 children per day ages 2 -5.

Cheryl's hobbies are gardening, going to the beach, and spending time with family.  If in Moss Landing, she's eating at her favorite restaurant, Phil's--great fish!  Although she grew up in Aptos, Cheryl's favorite vacation spot is any beach.

Her favorite verse in the Bible is Matthew 19:26, "With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible."  Cheryl loves the fact that this verse points out that it's not some things or a few but ALL things!

Colette Colette Lund, Transitional Student Director  colette@escaloncovenant.org

Currently serving as the Transitional Student Director, Colette delights in the opportunity to get to know the Jr. and Sr. High youth and help them grow in their relationship with Christ. Assisting her is Colette’s familiarity with the community as she was born and raised here around Escalon, CA.   Her education beyond Escalon includes Delta Junior College and CSU Stanislaus where she completed her degree with a Multiple Subject Teaching Credential.

Two places God used to shape her life were Mission Springs in Santa Cruz, CA and Culiacan, Sinaloa, Mexico. At Mission Springs Colette worked five summers at youth camps (Frontier Ranch and Wild Oak) sharing with students the amazing love of God and his creation. Of course she loved the chance to lead a camper to Christ, but she also enjoyed helping them overcome their fears on the high ropes course. In Mexico Colette joined Youth with a Mission (YWAM) for a discipleship training school. After finishing her training with YWAM, Colette stayed on staff for another two and a half years.

A few verses that have challenged her (and still do) are found in Philippians 3:7-11,” 7 But whatever was to my profit I now consider loss for the sake of Christ. 8 What is more, I consider everything a loss compared to the surpassing greatness of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whose sake I have lost all things. I consider them rubbish, that I may gain Christ 9 and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own that comes from the law, but that which is through faith in Christ—the righteousness that comes from God and is by faith. 10 I want to know Christ and the power of his resurrection and the fellowship of sharing in his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, 11 and so, somehow, to attain to the resurrection from the dead.”

While in Mexico, Colette met and married her husband.  They now have two wonderful girls to spice up their lives.  As a family they enjoy camping and almost anything outdoors.
